I’m not sure what I want to call these things.  Are they drawings?  Are they photos?  I suppose when it’s all said and done they will be digital prints.  Either way, the process is quite enjoyable!  From packing up my stuffs to go downtown or to the lake to actually creating in said settings, to cutting the little guys up and playing with them in different varying combinations.  (by the way, am I allowed to pluralize “combination”?)

Yes, yes, this is a close up of a drawing posted earlier... but seeing as though it is a print then one can say that this is a new composition, no?

Drawn on site in Chicago's Grant Park. I wonder how those pink guys will end up looking somewhere else! I can't wait to see!

I call this one "Summer Simmer #1", but I'm pretty sure I painted it in the spring...

Ok, ok. I didn't paint this one recently... I think maybe 5 or 6 years ago. My pallette looks a little less saturated. Is that for the better? I'm not sure...

Ok.  Now I need to discipline myself to make more!  Maybe when we move into a new 1 bedroom apartment where I will have my very own corner rather than share my paintin’ space with the dog’s water bowl.  Yippee!

….now get off the computer and read something informative!  My recommendations? National Geographic, Natural Living & Real Simple.  It’s a good thing.

I finally finished that drawing I started so many months ago!  I’m not sure of how it will be presented, but as soon as I figure it out I’ll make note of it.

In order to prove that I am not completely addicted Chicago’s “Antenna TV” I have decided to share a quick peek of the new banner.  I would love to post more than one photo at a time, but the technology of smartphones eludes me.  So there may be a part two to show what these silly little sketches are based on.

Embarrassingly, enough, it is.

Well, I shan’t wallow in my guilt for too long.  I would list off everything that has kept me busy for the last couple of months, but it seems as though my previous post alluded to such projects.  So.  The biggest news of all is that my family and I recently relocated to the windy city!

What did I learn from this move?  The importance of purging!  Oh yes.  It is amazing how much random, ehem, crap can accumulate if the space allows for such.  When we decided to make the move we knew that we would have to downsize, little did we know until the actual apartment search that “downsize” meant going from an 1100 square foot two bedroom to a 500 square foot studio apartment.

I had to leave a many thing behind in the bluegrass state, including my beloved wheel, a suitcase or two of clothes, not to mention a good deal of books and vhs; however, my easel, 50 pounds of clay, and paints made the cut!

Ok!  I lost track of my purpose for this entry.  Oh, yes!  The importance of purging.  You all will, at some point in your life, have to take inventory of your belongings (physical and possibly metaphorical) and really analyze its importance in your life (unless you are part of that lucky demographic that is not emotionally attached to things).  The key notion that helped me through it all was to consider: have I used it in the last six months or year?  will I use it again in the next six months or year? No?  Chuck it.  Functionality was easy to establish, however both my dude and I got hung up on the  sentimentality of the items.  My solution to that was to take a picture of it!  (do I feel another project coming on?  I think sooo!!!!)

In the end, it is about loving the belonging enough to tell it good bye, or knowing you just can’t live without it.  Can you do it?  I sure can!  (as a side note, when our new building manager came to fix our leaky sink he exclaimed “Whoa!  You have a lot of stuff!”  Perhaps I can still purge some more…)

At any rate, I guess that this also means that Wandering Seeds Pottery officially, on the thirteenth day of January during the year of two thousand and eleven, shall be called Wandering Seeds Studio (new banner and pics to come soon!).
